Crayon Miles
2,400 hand-drawn frames
◆ indie runner · one fox, one forest, one paper sky

Every frame
of this game
drawn by hand.

Crayon Miles is an endless runner where every sprite, backdrop, cloud and fox was drawn with actual crayon on butcher paper, scanned at night, and fed into Godot through a custom pipeline. Two thousand four hundred frames. Six months. Metacritic scored it eighty-two.

how the sausage got drawn.

  1. i. Buy every crayon Crayola sells. All of them.
  2. ii. Draw one frame. Scan it. Draw the next. Scan it. Two thousand three hundred and ninety-eight more times.
  3. iii. A Python pipeline rips each scan, unkinks the paper, centres the character, and spits out a sprite sheet Godot can read.
  4. iv. Godot with almost no custom code — the art does all the heavy lifting.
  5. v. Ship on itch, charge six quid, take zero ads, let the craft speak.
